'Sabka Vikas, Sabka Saath' is Government's tenet: 10 Promises in President's Speech

New Delhi:  President Pranab Mukherjee today addressed both houses of Parliament, marking the start of the budget session. He said "Sab ka Saath, Sab ka Vikas (taking everyone along, development for all)" is the government's fundamental tenet.

Here are 10 big promises in the President's speech

1. The government attaches paramount importance to safeguard farmers' interests, Land Act refined to minimise procedural difficulties.
2. All families, especially the poorest of the poor, will have a dwelling unit by 2022. To facilitate investment in housing, government has liberalized FDI, increased tax incentives for housing loans.
3. Government to provide a toilet in every school by August 15 this year.
4. Government is committed to taking all possible measures to stop generation of black money, both domestically and internationally.
5. Government committed to clean energy and ensuring transparency in allocation of natural resources.
6. National Urban Development Mission being finalised, government setting up 25 mega solar parks soon.
7. Government committed to use best technology and applications in governance, socio-economic development.
8. One-stop crisis centres in every state to provide medical aid, police help, temporary shelter, and counseling to women affected by violence.
9. A new small saving scheme 'Sukanya Samriddhi Account' to enable the education of the girl child.
10. SMART Police (Smart but Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Tech-savvy and well Trained) to provide efficient, courteous and effective citizen services and meet the operational needs of the police personnel including women police personnel.
